Stereotype of the Month Entry
(4/27/04)

Another Stereotype of the Month entry:

On a recent History Channel special promoting the new movie "The Alamo" a short history was given telling the story of one of the patriarchs of Texas, Sam Houston. In the course of the documentary it is explained that, for a time, Houston lived among the Cherokee of eastern Tennessee. While explaining this the good people at the History Channel mistakenly included images of what looked like Comanches, living in tipis and running with buffalo on horseback, to say nothing of the endless eastern woodlands or the farming practices of the people with whom Houston lived.
