The Web Fans Speak
(1/27/06)

Another response to The Web Fans Speak:

I just ran across your site and though that your concept was rather cool. Then I found your far reaching and over reacting sections that seem to utilize any possible angle in an effort to demonize any person, group or business which even faintly alludes to Indian peoples history or cultures.

As an indigenous American I find your persistence and unneeded attacks very distasteful and counter productive.

I felt compelled to write as I see your efforts as part of the problem rather than the cure. Please do not write me back as I do not wish to enter into one of the debates you seem so fond of pursuing.

Please take this message for what it is meant to be, constructive criticism, then either delete and forget of take it under consideration.

Thank you for your time

Don,

>> Then I found your far reaching and over reacting sections that seem to utilize any possible angle in an effort to demonize any person, group or business which even faintly alludes to Indian peoples history or cultures. <<

If by "alludes to" you mean "stereotypes" and by "demonize" you mean "criticize," you're right. But there are tens of thousands of people, groups, and businesses with Native connections that I haven't "demonized." Pro-Indian groups like the NCAI, NIGA, or AIM, for instance. Neutral businesses like car companies that use Indian names in benign ways. Creative people who do a good job of portraying Indians, such as Chris Eyre ("Smoke Signals," "Skins"), Rosen Publishing (the Sitting Bull graphic novel), and Lynn Johnston ("For Better or Worse").

That's funny...99% of people, including Natives, applaud and cheer what I'm doing. See http://www.bluecorncomics.com/webfans.htm for examples.

Most people disagree with you.

>> Please do not write me back as I do not wish to enter into one of the debates you seem so fond of pursuing. <<

There's nothing to debate. The facts are as I say they are. 99% of Native people support my work. Sorry you're in the tiny minority that doesn't.

>> Please take this message for what it is meant to be, constructive criticism, then either delete and forget of take it under consideration. <<

Your criticism isn't constructive, since you didn't tell me specifically how to change or improve. You didn't even give me a plausible reason for ignoring everyone who supports me and listening to you instead. But thanks for writing.
