Another Stereotype of the Month entry:

On Late Night with Conan O'Brien, during the monolouge, O'Brien made reference to NASA's sending a Native American into space. The story behind this is that NASA is sending an astronaut with ties to a tribe to the Mir space station. The bad part about this is that "they are sending him to convert the space station into a casino."

Now, I understand it's late night television, but really...

That Indians are only interested in casinos is another stereotype. In fact, John Herrington (Chickasaw) went through all the normal astronaut training and carried items from his Native heritage into space with him.
