Multiculturalism in the X-Men
(6/12/01)

A response to my Indian Comics Irregular essay X-Men:  All-New or Same-Old?:

*****

Just joined today, and am an X-Men and Batman devotee. Really like the analysis done here, and liked seeing the comic being put into the perspective of time, culture and human failing, without getting a wholesale, blind bashing. Nicely balanced and thought out.

Will definitely visit the Bluecorn site.

Take good care,

Helga Murray

Thanks. I'm a big X-Men fan myself. I have a complete run of the core issues since GIANT SIZE X-MEN #1, after all. For the first 20 or so years they were consistently among the best comics on the market.

Now they're more hit and miss, but still worth following. And with their attempts to include a diverse cast, they have a good message for us about multiculturalism. Not a perfect message, but a good one.
