The Fans Speak

I sent Barbara Kingsolver—who's written about Indians in her books The Bean Trees, Pigs in Heaven, and Animal Dreams—a copy of PEACE PARTY. I included a letter introducing myself and saying I dreamed of adapting Pigs in Heaven in comic book form someday. I received the following reply dated 8/16/01:

Dear Rob Schmidt,

I love what you're doing but can't get my mind around the idea of "Pigs in Heaven" as a comic book. Give it time, I may come around one of these years.

Truly,

(signed) Barbara Kingsolver

Comment: My first fan letter, sort of, from a famous author. And there's hope for a future collaboration. Wow!

Rob
