Absolutely True Diary up for award
Two Seattle authors are finalists for National Book AwardSherman Alexie was in Miami when it was announced that his "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" was a finalist in young people's literature.
Alexie, 41, returned to Seattle Thursday and said, "I'm just crazy happy. ... The National Book Award just seems surreal. After a very long and successful career, there are still mountains I have to climb and this seemed to be one of them. I feel a little bit triumphant, which is nice. This morning, I have a happiness hangover."
