How many people out there realize that SMOKE SIGNALS is over? It surely served its purpose at its time, but it now is NOT a classic and its time has gone by. What will that film mean in the next ten years? That is the danger of making a film too closely tied to existence as its makers know? They should evolve, and so should their films. But it almost is guaranteed that SMOKE SIGNALS 2 and SMOKE SIGNALS 3 already are in works...

I'd say Smoke Signals is more of a milestone than a classic.
I can't think of a Native film that has had the same impact since then, so it's a good choice to illustrate this item.
I doubt Smoke Signals did well enough to justify any sequels.
