Is the intention of the photo and caption (without attribution) to be that somehow Pres. Ford made those statements? Unlikely that he did, writerfella says. Obviously someone was 'sniping' at Ford over their displeasure with the Nixon Pardon. Is the source of the photo known to you?

I don't know the source of the photo. I found it on the Net a long time ago and have used it as an example of "Tonto talk" ever since.
Clearly Ford wasn't responsible for the photo caption. But he was responsible for belonging to the Michigamua's "Old Braves Council," an alumni organization at the University of Michigan.
As with sports mascots, this pseudo-Indian organization has been controversial. That makes Ford's participation in it controversial. Noting that the former president helped stereotype Indians has nothing to do with his pardon of Nixon.

writerfella saw that later post about the Massasaugua or Chickamaugua or Chimichanga or The Ming Dynasty or whatever the hell 'secret society' it was, and there was not word one that Ford ever was a member. What is Ford, damned by "faint prose?"

Based on the picture, Ford was pretty clearly a member of Michigamua. But now I've posted proof that he was.
